G20 Vietnamese Coffee – The Story Behind the Bean

Vietnam's Best-Kept Coffee Secret

Tucked away in the highlands of Vietnam, where the soil is rich and the altitude is perfect, G20 coffee is grown with one purpose in mind: purity. The G20 brand has built its reputation on a single promise — clean coffee, exceptional taste, no compromise.

What Makes G20 Special?

Unlike mass-produced blends, G20 Special Clean Coffee undergoes a meticulous processing method that removes impurities and ensures every bean meets a strict quality standard. The result is a cup that's smooth, balanced, and free from the harsh bitterness that plagues lesser coffees.

Whether you prefer your coffee ground and ready to brew or whole beans freshly milled at home, G20 offers both — each delivering the same signature clean finish.

A Partnership Rooted in Passion

Viet Coffee's relationship with G20 is more than just a supplier arrangement — it's a shared vision for bringing authentic Vietnamese coffee to Australian homes. At last year's BMT Coffee Festival, Viet Coffee co-founder Van Collin signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with G20, marking a significant milestone in the two companies' ongoing collaboration. This article is part of that continuing partnership — a commitment to education, storytelling, and sharing the very best of Vietnamese coffee culture with our customers.

The Taste of Vietnam in Every Cup

G20's medium-dark roast strikes the perfect balance between depth and smoothness. Expect notes of dark chocolate and caramel, a velvety body, and a lingering finish that keeps you coming back for more. It's the kind of coffee that turns a morning routine into a ritual.

How to Brew G20 Coffee

G20 is incredibly versatile and works beautifully across a range of brewing methods:

  • Vietnamese Phin Filter – The traditional way. Slow-drip, rich, and deeply satisfying.
  • French Press – Full-bodied and aromatic, perfect for a leisurely morning.
  • Espresso Machine – Intense and smooth, ideal for lattes and cappuccinos.
  • Drip Coffee Maker – Effortless and consistent for everyday brewing.

Perfect Pairing Dessert: Bánh Flan Cà Phê

For customers who want something sweet with their cocktail, pair the menu with a classic Vietnamese coffee flan — silky, caramelised, and perfect with G20.

Smooth • Silky • Lightly Sweet • Classic Vietnamese Dessert

Ingredients

Caramel

  • 100 g white sugar
  • 40 ml water
  • 1–2 tsp hot water (to loosen the caramel at the end)

Custard

  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 500 ml fresh milk (full cream works best)
  • 120 g sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or 1 packet vanilla sugar)
  • Optional: 30–40 ml condensed milk for extra richness

Instructions

1. Make the Caramel

  1. Add sugar + water to a small saucepan.
  2. Heat on medium without stirring until the syrup turns amber.
  3. Remove from heat and carefully add 1–2 tsp hot water to thin it slightly.
  4. Pour immediately into your flan moulds or ramekins, tilting to coat the bottom.

2. Prepare the Custard

  1. Warm the milk gently with sugar until dissolved — do not boil.
  2. In a bowl, whisk eggs + yolks lightly (avoid bubbles).
  3. Slowly pour warm milk into the eggs while whisking gently.
  4. Add vanilla (and condensed milk if using).
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve for a smooth texture.

3. Steam or Bake

Option A — Steam (Vietnamese method)

  • Cover each mould with foil.
  • Steam on low heat for 20–25 minutes.
  • Keep the lid slightly open to prevent bubbles.

Option B — Bake (Western method)

  • Preheat oven to 150°C.
  • Place moulds in a baking tray and fill with hot water halfway (water bath).
  • Bake for 35–45 minutes until just set.

4. Chill & Serve

  • Let cool to room temperature.
  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours (overnight is best).
  • Run a knife around the edge and flip onto a plate to release.

Tips for Perfect Vietnamese Bánh Flan

  • Low heat = smooth texture
  • Strain the custard to remove bubbles
  • Don't overcook — the centre should still wobble
  • Add condensed milk for a more Vietnamese café flavour
  • Use fresh milk, not UHT, for better aroma

Serving Ideas

  • With Vietnamese iced coffee (Cà Phê Sữa Đá)
  • With coconut cream drizzle
  • As a topping for flan coffee (Cà Phê Flan)
  • With fruit like mango or berries
