The Story Behind Tiger Monkey
Produced in tiny quantities by ethnic White H’Mong families in Lung Phin, Ha Giang, Tiger Monkey is dried by hand in a cast iron pan over a wood fire — a traditional method that contributes its signature light smokiness. Leaves are harvested from wild tea trees growing in a biodiverse mountain environment, where shallow soil and localised rainfall allow only three short flushes each year.
The tea takes its name from the local market in Dong Van district, held on the Monkey and Tiger days of the Lunar week — where most of this tea was traditionally sold.
How to Brew
Use 3–4g per 200ml of water at 75–80°C. Steep for 1–2 minutes for the first infusion. Re-steep 3–4 times, increasing steeping time slightly with each infusion to reveal evolving layers of flavour.
